INREV, CREFC Europe, ZIA: The Contribution of Real Estate Debt
The Contribution of Real Estate Debt to the Real Economy
Upcoming research in Q4/2015: The aims of the project are to explain and explore the role of the commercial real estate debt market for the European economy and for investors, and to analyse how its size and structure affect financial system resilience. The study also aims to increase the understanding of European policy makers, including Members of European Parliament and the Commission and key national regulators, concerning the role that real estate debt plays in the real economy in Europe. It should also help to improve transparency and clarify the market information needed by regulators and those supporting regulatory decision making. The study should build on information contained in earlier studies such as INREV and EPRA’s 2013 and 2014 reports on Real Estate in the Real Economy, the UK Real Estate Finance Group’s 2014 report, A Vision for Real Estate Finance in the UK, De Montfort University’s UK Commercial Property Lending Report and the IREBS’ German Debt Project.
